The lovely folks at Isobaa kindly invited me to try out and review some of their gorgeous Spring-Summer 2021 Collection, and, of course I jumped at the opportunity having tried and tested so many of their great products over the past year and which have now become staples in my ‘outdoorsy’ wardrobe (aka: my everyday life clothing!).
I don’t know about you, but over this past year and a bit of on and off lockdown I have become even more addicted to comfortable and simple items of clothing – I am all about easy to wear pieces that don’t require any ironing, that look good and that also make me feel great when I put them on. Just because I am usually headed for the mountains doesn’t mean I don’t want to feel good about my appearance as I hike! And, as my awareness of the impact of ‘fast fashion’ also increases I am seeking to add to my wardrobe good quality staples that stand the test of both my active lifestyle as well as the washing machine.
This time round I chose a lovely Merino Short Sleeve T-Shirt in Wine/ Fuschia as I fell in love with the colour as soon as I laid eyes on it on the website – it was as if it was made for me! I have a similar one in blue which I have worn a ton of times while hiking and it still looks and feels like brand new and I love putting it on. And, despite my usual aversion to wearing shorts, I selected a pair of Merino Shorts in the Petrol colour – I was feeling brave and wanted to get my legs out this summer regardless of my own personal insecurities!
As usual, both items arrived beautifully packaged in recyclable boxes and tissue paper – no plastic labels or bags in sight with these guys – and it means when your goodies arrive in the post they do feel like such a luxurious treat. The fabric of both the shorts and t-shirt was so soft to the touch that I really couldn’t wait to try them on! I am a size 8UK and chose a Small in the shorts and they fitted me perfectly. I really liked the pockets, the contrasting colour of the drawstring waist and the length was really superb for me. I wore them initially for a long, sunny walk with my family and was comfortable and cool the entire time even though it was a scorcher of a day – big win in my book as I really dislike overheating.
The t-shirt in my opinion is truly beautiful, the colour is gorgeously bright and rich, perfect for summer and the fit of it is ideal for me. I chose the XS in it as I am smaller up top and felt the fit was just right for my personal taste – I was jumping over logs, playing on a rope swing and climbing trees with my kids and felt in no way restricted the whole time – that’s my kinda fashion… clothes that work for me and my lifestyle. The other great bonus of Isobaa’s merino clothing is that it is moisture wicking, odour resistant and breathable, meaning you can adventure for hours on end safe in the knowledge that you’re still smelling as fresh and sweet as when you set off – if that matters to you of course!
I have worn both items a number of times now but have yet to wash them as they don’t need to be chucked in the machine after each wear – a quick air out and they are good to go again, once again benefitting the environment which is a big plus in my book. I have several other Isobaa items though and can vouch for the fact that when they are washed and dried they come up looking like new every time. These two beautiful items will undoubtedly feature heavily in my summer attire and just go to show that good quality active clothing can be stylish, comfy, can perform really well and also be friendly towards nature – no compromises needed!
