DOUBLE 7 SUMMITS CHALLENGE – TRAINING REPORT

Training continues for our mammoth Double Seven Summits Challenge scheduled to take place during the first weekend in May.

My brother, John, and I plan to complete a trek of the 7 highest peaks in the Mourne Mountain range, camp overnight, then undertake the hike once again. This huge task will take in 14 peaks, cover approximately 36 miles and involve around 24 hours trekking. Undoubtedly this will challenge us physically, mentally and emotionally but it is all in aid of the essential and incredible work of Air Ambulance NI.

Check out these pictures from our most recent 5-summit hike together. We set off at 6.30am and trekked until 3.00pm in a bid to build our stamina and increase our distance capacity. We were met with icy conditions and a full-on blizzard for the final hour and a half of our walk – tough going at times but certainly one way to find out what we’re made of and build our resilience!

If you’d like to support us in our challenge and donate to the invaluable work of Air Ambulance NI you can do so at our JustGiving Page: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/kelly-hargie-07

THANK YOU!

Kelly & John
